New York, a City of Inspiration

“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

I love to travel and experience new cultures. For that reason,  I took a day trip to New York for a mini vacation.  My purpose in going was to visit all the places I didn’t get a chance to visit during new years. With that being said,  I still didn’t get a chance to visit all the places I wanted to. Regardless, I had a wonderful time and I plan on going back soon to finish my list. Below are a few pictures I took while I was there.

Before I went to the Brooklyn bridge I stopped by Duke’s cafe located in Soho no too far from H&M.

  1. I absolutely love that last picture! I would honestly pay money for a photo of that quality =)

  2. These are some really great photos. I live here in NYC and every day I swear I find a new nook and cranny to take in–and document. Thanks for sharing your photos!

  3. I plan on going to New York next year for the first time next year and Im super excited, and a bit nervous. I heard NY can be overwhelming to a newcomer. Great pics and congrats on becoming freshly pressed!

  4. Love your photos! They almost speak out the energy and vibrance of the city! Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!

  5. Try walking from Brooklyn across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan at sunset. It’s one of my favorite things to see in NYC. Allow forty minutes with stops for photos.

  6. Excellent work and that’s coming from a fellow New Yorker. Even i who have lived here all my life have not been able to see everything or every view New York has to offer. My latest article is about something like this and sometimes i wonder how i take this place for granted. I tell you this much i plan on changing that soon this summer and fourth, good work -,o

  7. Great pictures! It’s a lot of things about new york. You say it’s a modern city then you meet those “cultural” corner and surprised by many traditional in the middle of modernity 🙂 Love new york so much! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Beautiful!

  8. This is totally awesome! I’m from Australia and am planning a trip to New York in September as a birthday present to myself! This just got me super excited – I can’t wait!

  9. Great snaps! I also wanna go there sometime, and spend New Year’s eve. Though, I also like to spend an ordinary day like what you did. Anyway, New York is always my dream city to visit. However, I need to save more to pay a visit to this city (since I’m from the Philippines). 🙂

  10. Wow Beautiful photos! No matter where I go, I am always drawn back home to NYC and I love seeing it through the eyes of another, Thank you for sharing!

  11. I just went to NYC for the first time, and absolutely fell in love! Your pics captured its spirit well. I actually started my blog because of my trip to NYC, gave me the push I’d been looking for. So yes, definitely a city of inspiration. 🙂

  12. My husband and I take short vacations in NYC even though we live only one hour away. There are just endless things to do and see. We explore one neighborhood at a time–a good way to experience the city, I think. Recently we had a great time exploring the area around Lexington and the 20s. Wonderful Indian restaurants and markets http://sweetpaprika.wordpress.com/archives/kick-it-up-a-notch-
at-kalustyans/ I plan to blog about places that especially appeal to me.
    Happy traveling, Matt.

  13. Okay, this is going to sound super lame but I was about to start studying but needed some sort of inspiration and motivation so thought “Hey! Let’s go to WordPress and try and find a blog on New York” (because I REALLY want to go there someday). Clicked on WordPress and what do I find? ‘New York, a City of Inspiration’ on Freshly Pressed 😀

    Thank you so much!

  14. Love the pictures. The next destination I’m planning to explore overseas from my homebase in Brisbane Australia…is New York! I also love the last photo you’ve posted. Absolutely stunning if in Sepa or B&W also.

  15. to be young and living in New York is the ultimate aphrodisiac-and to be older and living in New York is close-it is a city of infinite possibilities-and the only place where I would be content to live in a hotel room and the only city I find painful to leave

  16. Thanks for the add. I’m not sure if you ever heard the song “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z (featuring Alicia Keys), but it is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard about New York and really puts over just how special the city is and now dreams can come true there. Definitely sounds like a city of inspiration.
Even if you don’t care much for hip-hop music, I’m sure you will enjoy the song.

  17. I’m a native NY’er and it’s great here, but only in small increments. lol Your photos are very nice too!

  18. I love NYC and Brooklyn …. your photos truly caught NYC as she truly is! Beautiful! I adore the vitality, diversity, 24/7 crazy busy, the subways, the characters that make up this amazing city!

  19. I really like how you captured the different aspects of New York; I’ve never been before, so it was nice to see the little things as well as the big, like the food and the street art photos. Nice work and congratulations on being selected for Freshly Pressed! 🙂

  20. It seems like everything is bigger in new York city …I just absolutely love the architecture the picture of the buildings really put things in perspective ….. you see how small we really are. Can’t wait to see the next trips pics 🙂

  21. Congrats on being featured on Freshly Pressed. These are such amazing photos, like Mikalee Byerman says it captures both the classic tourist sites and images that are more under-the-radar but still recognisable as New York. I’ve been to New York for a few days but only saw a tiny fraction of New York City, let alone the state. I hope I get to visit again soon and discover all the famous places and secret gems. Looking forward to hearing more about your travels.
