“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
I love to travel and experience new cultures. For that reason, I took a day trip to New York for a mini vacation. My purpose in going was to visit all the places I didn’t get a chance to visit during new years. With that being said, I still didn’t get a chance to visit all the places I wanted to. Regardless, I had a wonderful time and I plan on going back soon to finish my list. Below are a few pictures I took while I was there.
Before I went to the Brooklyn bridge I stopped by Duke’s cafe located in Soho no too far from H&M.
The M&M store has an aroma. It’s terrible if you’re poor and can’t afford those high prices.
Congratulations on being selected for Freshly Pressed.
Thank you!
Yes…these are awesome!
I absolutely love that last picture! I would honestly pay money for a photo of that quality =)
Thanks I really appreciate that!
It really is a well done photo.
Beautiful images. I appreciate that you’ve captured the traditional as well as the less touristy, more unique aspects of this incredible city. LOVE that last pic!!
Thank you soooo much!
GREAT SNAPSHOTS! Especially the last one – i feel like I am standing in the midst of NYC! How were you able to get the tall building heights in?
THANK YOU!!! I used the stock 18-55mm lens and tilted it vertically to capture the height.
I was just thinking of writing the exact same as Zoetic! Thanks for the beautiful photo!
Amazing pics man! Glad to see you enjoyed NYC.
Thanks!!
These are some really great photos. I live here in NYC and every day I swear I find a new nook and cranny to take in–and document. Thanks for sharing your photos!
Thank you! I really appreciate you comment!
I plan on going to New York next year for the first time next year and Im super excited, and a bit nervous. I heard NY can be overwhelming to a newcomer. Great pics and congrats on becoming freshly pressed!

I don’t mind. Thanks for the comment!
last pic looks so good:)
Try walking from Brooklyn across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan at sunset. It’s one of my favorite things to see in NYC. Allow forty minutes with stops for photos.
I used to live in NY and am moving back in July. This makes me very eager to return!
wow gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing =)
Awesome stuff – some great and really original shots 🙂
Excellent work and that’s coming from a fellow New Yorker. Even i who have lived here all my life have not been able to see everything or every view New York has to offer. My latest article is about something like this and sometimes i wonder how i take this place for granted. I tell you this much i plan on changing that soon this summer and fourth, good work -,o

I love all your photos. New York is definitely an inspiration for me as well.
Great pictures! It’s a lot of things about new york. You say it’s a modern city then you meet those “cultural” corner and surprised by many traditional in the middle of modernity 🙂 Love new york so much! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Beautiful!
Have yet to visit New York, but would have to say that it is on the top of my list.

Great snaps! I also wanna go there sometime, and spend New Year’s eve. Though, I also like to spend an ordinary day like what you did. Anyway, New York is always my dream city to visit. However, I need to save more to pay a visit to this city (since I’m from the Philippines). 🙂
Yes, you definitely have to visit. It’s a wonderful city with tons of inspiration!
Great pics! The M&M Store at Times Square is one of my favorite places in NYC to just stand and drool. Enjoy yourself!

Great shots of NYC. With all the times I have visited NYC, there are STILL places I would like to see. You Matter! Smiles, Nancy
I just went to NYC for the first time, and absolutely fell in love! Your pics captured its spirit well. I actually started my blog because of my trip to NYC, gave me the push I’d been looking for. So yes, definitely a city of inspiration. 🙂
Yes it is! Thank you!
My husband and I take short vacations in NYC even though we live only one hour away. There are just endless things to do and see. We explore one neighborhood at a time–a good way to experience the city, I think. Recently we had a great time exploring the area around Lexington and the 20s. Wonderful Indian restaurants and markets http://sweetpaprika.wordpress.com/archives/kick-it-up-a-notch-
at-kalustyans/ I plan to blog about places that especially appeal to me.
Happy traveling, Matt.

Thanks for the Reblog!
I am an Indonesian and live there. I have a dream to around the world especially New York.
to be young and living in New York is the ultimate aphrodisiac-and to be older and living in New York is close-it is a city of infinite possibilities-and the only place where I would be content to live in a hotel room and the only city I find painful to leave
Great pics! The pictures had some old town NYC feel to it. Good job!
The last pic is my favorite. Simply awesome!
i’ll be going there this summer for my bday…alone… Can’t wait! 🙂
Awesome pictures.
Thanks for the add. I’m not sure if you ever heard the song “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z (featuring Alicia Keys), but it is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard about New York and really puts over just how special the city is and now dreams can come true there. Definitely sounds like a city of inspiration.
Even if you don’t care much for hip-hop music, I’m sure you will enjoy the song.
I think that inspiration is a little exaggerated. It is in people rather than places. But your photos are amazing!:)
Wow! I’m from Georgia and have only been to the airport in New York. Everything seems so larger than life there. Great pics!
Gorgeous photos! Makes me remember my trip to New York several years ago… which only left me wanting to see more! You’ve captured the city beautifully

I love NYC and Brooklyn …. your photos truly caught NYC as she truly is! Beautiful! I adore the vitality, diversity, 24/7 crazy busy, the subways, the characters that make up this amazing city!
lol you’re right about that! thank you!
I really like how you captured the different aspects of New York; I’ve never been before, so it was nice to see the little things as well as the big, like the food and the street art photos. Nice work and congratulations on being selected for Freshly Pressed! 🙂

Thank you! you should take a trip soon it’s beautiful!
That M&M’s store, in my opinion, is capitalistic horror at it’s best (a HUGE store devoted to a candy??). I love these shots and I agree with what someone above said–they do have an old-time feel.
Reblogged this on .
You have some wonderful perspectives in the collection. My favorite is definitely the bridge

It seems like everything is bigger in new York city …I just absolutely love the architecture the picture of the buildings really put things in perspective ….. you see how small we really are. Can’t wait to see the next trips pics 🙂
Thanks for the comment!! I really appreciate it!
You’re making me miss NYC! I am working on a post about the the city in pictures, too. Excellent! & congrats on being Freshly Pressed! Cheers:)
Thank you! I would like to see the post when it comes out! 🙂
Congrats on being featured on Freshly Pressed. These are such amazing photos, like Mikalee Byerman says it captures both the classic tourist sites and images that are more under-the-radar but still recognisable as New York. I’ve been to New York for a few days but only saw a tiny fraction of New York City, let alone the state. I hope I get to visit again soon and discover all the famous places and secret gems. Looking forward to hearing more about your travels.
Thanks! I plan to go back soon along with traveling to other cities.

A great post about New York. Although a Chicago native, Mk Americana beautifully captures the culture of the Big Apple. I am now going for a stroll around the Windy City after work…
It’s posted now. Thanks so much for participating in toemail – we really appreciate it!
Intresting Blog…
Thank you soo much!
Nice pictures! Hope some day I’ll visit NY too…
